    Do you charge for estimates?
No, we do not charge for landscape estimates. However, we do charge for landscape designs. Back to Top

Why and how much do you charge for landscape designs?
Our designs are drawn specifically for your property. We take into account all aspects of your property including grade, light, soil conditions, and existing plant material. We meet with you to discuss your likes and dislikes to make sure the design meets all of your expectations. The design fee depends totally on the extent of the project. If it will include walls, ponds etc. Please call to discuss your particular project.

    Are your plants guaranteed?
All of our plant material, hardscape material and labor are conditionally guaranteed with proper client care. We will replace, once, any tree shrub, evergreen or woody vine that fails to grow within 1 year of installation. This is provided that the plants have had adequate care. We will not replace plants killed by rodents, insects, mechanical damage, owner neglect or natural disasters. We do a final walk-through with our clients to be sure that they are completely satisfied with the results, and leave them with a maintenance care sheet. Back to Top

When is the best time to plant?
Although you may think that the summer months offer the best conditions for planting, the actual season available to us for plant installation can range from April through November. Some plants may benefit from an early spring or fall planting. If you find that summer has passed you by, fall can be a great time to install your landscape, offering you a head start the following spring.

When should I call to get an estimate for my landscaping?
If you envision a spring project, it’s important that you contact Scott’s Designer Lawnscape in late fall so your project can be put into the spring schedule. If you call in the spring you can plan on a summer or fall install. Whatever the time of year, we’d love to hear from you and take care of your landscape needs.

What can we do about weeds in a newly seeded lawn?
Immediate weed control is discouraged on newly seeded lawns until the lawn has been mowed at least 5-7 times. If your lawn was installed in spring or early summer, you can generally weed & feed in fall. If your lawn was installed in late summer or early fall, wait until the following spring to do weed control. Back to Top

When should we have our Lilacs and other spring blooming plants pruned?
The best time to prune is in spring, as soon as the plants are done blooming. You simply prune off the spent flower or you can use this opportunity to shape and reduce the plant size. Back to Top

When and how should shrub roses be pruned?
Shrub roses should be pruned, at the first set of 5 leaves, when they have spent flower heads. This will help them bloom more profusely, if they are a variety that blooms more than once. Back to Top

My flowering Crabapple is loosing its foliage. Its leaves have black spots and are turning yellow. What can I do?
Your Crabapple has a disease called Apple Scab. Rake up any foliage that has dropped and burn it or dispose of it. Next year, as the foliage comes out, you will need to spray on a fungicide, and repeat every 10-14 days, through mid-July. Back to Top

My Spruce tree is losing the needles on its lower limbs. What’s wrong?
Spruces that are planted in shade often lose their lower needles and limbs. If in full sun, it probably has a disease called Phystospera Canker, which affects trees under stress. There is no chemical control for this disease.

I have small, brown growths on the tips of my Spruce tree branches. What is wrong?
You have Spruce Gall Aphid. The best way to control this is to prune off the galls and dispose of them, by burning or throwing them in the garbage.

When is the best time to fertilize my trees and shrubs?
The best time to fertilize your trees and shrubs is in the fall, after the plants have gone dormant. In late October, you can either core feed with a granular fertilizer or you can deep root-feed with a liquid fertilizer.

The deer are eating my plants. What can I do?
This is a difficult problem to control. One possible solution is to spray your plants with a deer-repellent called ‘Deer Off’. It will last for approximately one month.

When is the best time to prune my mature trees?
Winter is the best time to prune large mature trees. Transmission of disease is reduced and we can see the full woody structure of the tree.

    Do you mow lawns?
No, we do not mow lawns. We are not a lawn maintenance service. However, we do Spring and Fall yard clean ups.

    Do you accept MC/Visa?
